The word clone was coined by Herbert J.Webber. Cloning is a process of producing identical twins either by natural or artificial process. There are many difference varieties of cloning. For example, animal cloning and human cloning.Human cloning is the production of identical copy of a person.
Some people think that human cloning is good because doctors used a human clone to speed up the process healing from devastating injuries ; also human cloning solve fertility problems. On the other hand Some people believe that human cloning is bad because it is against the law of nature. Individuals created through cloning age faster than the original individual and most important thing is it is against the law. Also, cloning is illegal government create strong law against cloning and people who make clones will be arrested.
The article from database “Keeping Up With The Cloneses Issue In Human Cloning” by Berard E.Rollin is about why human cloning is bad.According to this article, it is against ethics, religious ethics, and social ethics.Cloning is naturally wrong.Cloning lead to bad consequences, and cloning harms the organism produce by cloning.
“Rollin (1999) pointed out, such disobedience is imprudent, since God is stronger than we are, not a proof of natural immorality, unless we add the additional premise that (God’s) might makes right, vitiating morality as we know it! In the case of nature rather than God, one obviously must show why cloning is unnatural and cesarean sections are not, and why the unnatural is necessarily immoral”( p. 55).
I agree with the point that cloning is morally wrong.Humans don’t have the right to create a clone produce us. God only have the right to generate human beings. The individual ( human ) is produced artificially is morally wrong because it is against the law of nature.
Rollin( 1999)“Within a week of Dolly’s cloning, CNN/Time had done a poll indicating that 69% of the public was “scared” by the prospect of cloning humans, 89% said that such cloning of humans was “morally unacceptable,” and 75% said that cloning is “against God’s will.” Regrettably, the poll did not indicate the grounds upon which people based their claim of “moral unacceptability” or their basis, theological or otherwise, for claim”( p. 57).
One of the negative effects of cloning is that people feel fear about cloning. Some believe that cloning is not a good way to produce an exact copy of an organism (human).God creates us so, only God has right to produce a copy of a human being. As a muslim I believe that in Islam creating or producing a exact duplicate copy of human is morally against the law of nature. Human beings don’t have the rights to change the law of nature.By creating clones of human beings scientists, give less importance to the human life.
The article ”Bad copies how popular media represent cloning as an ethical problem”by Patrick D. Hopkins. This article is about ethics, human cloning publications, and diseases cause by cloning.
Hopkins(2005)Dr. Francis Collins, head of the government’s big project on human genes, described “genes can’t reproduce an exact copy of a person.”(p. 8).
This statement shows that cloning of a human being is not exact same as the original.Suppose If someone is cloning himself at the time of cloning his age is 20 but in the result of cloning the person who produced by cloning is not 20 years old.The cloned person
would be 20 at the birth and getting older with the original and has been getting more chances of having disease.
Hopkins(2005) “The New York Times asks us to consider “the case of a couple whose baby was dying and who wanted, literally, to replace the child. Many of these reports undercut their own efforts at genetic education by implying that the resulting child would in fact be a “replacement” while simultaneously quoting scientists and ethicists arguing against the genetic determinism. But the most important aspect of this hypothetical is the idea that cloning is the kind of technology that would appeal to people who are pathologically unable to accept the fact of death. “The reluc the importance to accept their loss leads them to create and use a second child (which they mistakenly see as a replacement) for their own comfort”(p 7).
Cloning is attractive to people who want offspring but this is a bad way to reproduce. It is the duplication of offspring.
The article “ The Human Cloning Prohibition Act OF 2001: Vanguenesss And Federalism” by Johnathan S.Swartz which is based on human cloning which is against law of government.
Swartz(2002) On July 31,2001, the U.S. House of Representatives passed The Human Cloning Prohibition Act of 2001.The legislation proposes a complete ban on somatic cell nuclear transfer to create cloned human embryos; it threatens transgressors with criminal punishment and civil fines. House Bill is the first human cloning prohibition to pass either chamber of Congress”(p. 51).
Government makes laws if someone is trying to make clone for any purpose they will go to jail. Also we not allowed to do these types of cloning that are illegal.
In conclusion all three articles explained why cloning of humans is bad.Because it is against the law of nature . Individual created through cloning age faster than the original individual and the most important thing is it is against the law. Also cloning is illegal government create strong law against cloning and people who makes cloning will be arrested.
